[He had told Ryunosuke, before he left, to keep him from worrying. He should have thought to do the same with Manabu, even if they were both heading out this way.]

Umh, yeah. Yeah, no…no damage. Sansa loaned me a ring that keeps me hidden from monsters. Not that there’s…any here to speak of.

[He reaches out, a warm, gentle hand on his shoulder. It's not a hug, but it certainly creates more of an opening for one.]

It is a bit too quiet here but...Monsters aren't the only dangers. [They all have learned that lesson by now from their time in Trench.]

[he nods, eyes downcast. the shoulder touch does prompt him to step in a bit.]

[Which he doesn't want to admit, if only because that meant there was a likelihood for trouble.

He has questions, ones he should ask--wants to ask. But he lets them fall for the moment when Manabu steps in, taking the opportunity to put his arm around him--and open invitation to take what he needs.]

[that’s how Manabu is — stepping in to close distance, but so rarely able to fully reach out for the care he needs. so thank goodness Kazuma is the sort to be able to read that cue.

he rests his head against his shoulder and closes his eyes, a little of the tension built up in his back easing up.

after a beat, not moving:] …Still glad you’re here.

[Kazuma was not always the best at reading such cues, but he'd like to think he was making the effort to be better. It seemed to be working out that way at least.]

...I'm glad we were able to find each other here.

[ At least they could count that much as a positive to this whole trek. They had each other at the very least.]

he bobs his head in a nod, looking up at Kazuma, then over at the books he’d been pouring over.]

[Kazuma would have been content to let Manabu stay close, but there were things they were here for. Things they should discuss.]

Unfortunately, I lot of these are ruined--scraps of information really, and even then I can barely translate more than a few words. Though someone I met did manage to find a mention of Pthumerians in another language.

[sounds similar to Alucard's findings...Manabu frowns a bit before peeling his gaze away from the books, out toward the door he'd come from.]

Mn... There's...something in the church. It's weird enough that it put Alucard off, and I guess I don't blame him, but... I can't shake the feeling it's important in some way.

Whether that's good or not, though...
